La Giostra, Italian restaurant in Florence, Italy
La Giostra is a restaurant set in a building with sixteenth-century brick arches, positioned between the Duomo and Piazza Santa Croce in the heart of Florence. It serves traditional Tuscan and Lorraine dishes in a space designed for roughly 16 diners.
Prince Dimitri Habsburg-Lorraine and his son Soldano opened the restaurant in 1992. The building once housed a local carousel before being transformed into this dining space.
The place serves recipes from Tuscan kitchens and the Habsburg-Lorraine court, blending two culinary worlds in a single dining room with roughly 16 tables. This mix of local and noble traditions shapes how guests experience the food and the space.
The restaurant opens for dinner daily from 19:00 until midnight. Lunch service is available Monday through Friday between 12:30 and 14:00.
A specially designed King Arthur-style table sits at the far end of the dining room. Thousands of candles surround it, casting light across the exposed brick walls.
