Yaya Secrétan, Greek restaurant in 19th arrondissement, Paris, France.
Yaya is a Greek restaurant located in the historic Halle Secrétan building and offers about 220 square meters (2,370 sq ft) of space. The venue features a large communal table and a separate mezzanine for more private dining experiences.
The restaurant grew from the success of a first location in Saint-Ouen and later expanded to this Paris location. This expansion resulted from a partnership between Chef Juan Arbelaez and the Chantzios brothers from Kalios.
The name Yaya means grandmother in Greek and points to recipes from Neochori-Itomi, a village in the Peloponnese. Diners experience traditional mezze and salt-crusted fish prepared according to old family traditions.
Access is from the courtyard of the Halle Secrétan building, where there is plenty of space to move around. Visitors should note that opening hours vary by day of the week and it is wise to book ahead.
A bartender decorated as Meilleur Ouvrier de France crafts cocktails designed specifically for sharing and reinforces the communal dining concept. These skillfully mixed drinks echo the sociable spirit of table conversation found in Greece.
