Restaurante Capricciosa, Italian restaurant in Alcântara, Portugal
Restaurante Capricciosa is an Italian restaurant in Alcântara, set inside the Doca de Santo Amaro marina along the Tagus River. The space has several indoor dining rooms and an outdoor terrace facing the 25 de Abril Bridge, with a wood-fired oven used to make pizzas by hand.
The restaurant opened in 1995 and was one of the first to set up in Doca de Santo Amaro, when the old dock area had few dining options. Its presence helped turn the waterfront into a place people came to eat and spend evenings out.
The name Capricciosa refers to a classic Italian pizza topped with ham, mushrooms, artichokes and olives, and it gives the restaurant its identity. Sitting on the terrace, guests can watch boats on the Tagus while eating food that follows Italian cooking traditions.
The restaurant has a play area for children, which makes it an easy choice for families with young kids. The terrace is a good option when the weather is warm, as it offers more open space and a view of the river and bridge.
The restaurant runs a food truck that brings rotolini to private events and outdoor gatherings around Lisbon. Rotolini is a rolled dough dish similar to a filled pizza slice and is not widely known outside the restaurant's regular menu.
