Ciel, Italian restaurant in 1st arrondissement, Marseille, France
Ciel Rooftop is an Italian restaurant situated on the seventh floor of the Babel Community building, offering an open-air dining terrace. The space overlooks the roofline of central Marseille and extends toward the Mediterranean shoreline.
The building once housed the Galeries Lafayette department store, a major retail landmark in the city. The restaurant now occupies the upper levels of this former commercial space.
The kitchen brings together Italian cooking traditions with ingredients sourced from Mediterranean producers nearby. Diners experience how southern European techniques and seasonal products come together on each plate.
Entry to the space is through an elevator at 17 rue Haxo on the ground level. The open-air dining area can be enjoyed in most weather conditions, and the location is easy to reach from the city center.
Pets are welcome to join diners on the terrace, making the meal more relaxed for animal companions. The basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde appears on the skyline, marking a recognizable point in the cityscape.
