The Silo Hotel
The Silo Hotel is a luxury hotel housed in a converted grain silo at the Cape Town waterfront. The structure was originally built in the 1920s and has been transformed into a modern accommodation with rooms, a restaurant, and a rooftop terrace.
The silo was built in the 1920s as a grain storage facility for trade operations and served as a key part of the harbor infrastructure for decades. Its transformation into a hotel in the 2010s marked a new chapter for this historical structure.
The hotel is located right at the harbor and is easy to access, with parking available and good connections nearby. Visitors should know that the rooftop terrace can be windy and comfortable shoes are recommended for exploring the area.
The hotel was designed by renowned architect Thomas Heatherwick, and its upper level features an open viewpoint with 360-degree views of the harbor and city. The design creatively reimagines the interior of the old silo in unexpected ways.
