1 Thibault Square, Office building in City Bowl, Cape Town, South Africa
The 1 Thibault Square tower reaches 126 meters high with 32 floors arranged in a modern design. Its clean facade and scale make it one of the defining structures in this central business district.
This skyscraper was constructed between 1969 and 1972 under the name BP Centre. It underwent name changes in later decades as different companies occupied the office space.
The square takes its name from a French composer and serves as a meeting point where office workers, visitors, and locals naturally gather and move through the area.
The building sits at the corner of Riebeek and Long Street in the city center and is easy to reach by public transport. Multiple elevators inside make moving between floors convenient for all visitors and workers.
The structure incorporates a subtle diagonal turn in its design that helps reduce sun exposure on its walls. This geometric feature is hardly noticeable from street level but significantly improves how the building handles heat.
