Colorado Belle
The Colorado Belle is a large hotel and building in Laughlin, Nevada, designed to look like a nineteenth-century riverboat with a six-deck paddle steamer style. It contained over one thousand rooms spread across two tall towers, a gaming floor of more than forty thousand square feet, three restaurants, two swimming pools, a fitness center, and various entertainment areas.
Construction began in 1979 and the hotel opened on November 10, 1980, under Advanced Patent Technology. Following various ownership changes including Circus Circus and later Mandalay Resort Group, Golden Entertainment purchased it in 2019, but it closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has remained closed since.
The hotel takes its name from the Colorado River that runs alongside it. Its riverboat design was a playful reference to the history of paddle steamers, fitting perfectly with Laughlin's river-themed appeal that drew visitors seeking that nostalgic connection.
The hotel was easily accessible by car and located near other attractions in Laughlin. Since the property is currently closed, visitors can only view it from outside and photograph the distinctive boat design from the riverbank.
In 2024, a small fire broke out in the vacant building from a bathroom exhaust fan. The hotel has stood silent for years now, waiting for an uncertain future, while its distinctive boat design stands as a reminder of better times.
