Dalcahue

Dalcahue is a wooden restaurant built across two floors with large windows facing the Dalcahue Channel and Quinchao Island beyond. The dining space offers direct views of the water and surrounding landscape.

The restaurant began in 1985 as a small family kitchen serving port workers and fishermen from the neighboring harbor. It grew from these modest origins into an established dining spot with local recognition.

The restaurant serves traditional Chilote dishes like curanto, chapaleles, and milcao that reflect the island's culinary heritage. These cooking methods come from recipes passed down through generations of fishing families.

The restaurant sits central to the market square and is easily reached on foot or by car, with dedicated parking for visitors. Its location makes it a convenient stop while exploring the town center.

Each table features different types of native wood from Chiloé forests, with each piece labeled with its local name and traditional uses. These details tell the story of the region's forest diversity and local knowledge.
