Chiloé National Park

The park encompasses 43,057 hectares of protected land, featuring dense Valdivian rainforest, coastal dunes, lakes, and mountains rising over 800 meters.

The national park was established in 1983 to preserve the natural ecosystems of Chiloe Island, which had been inhabited by the Huilliche indigenous people.

The surrounding area contains traditional wooden churches recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, representing the architectural legacy of local communities.

Visitors can access the park through Cucao sector, where they find information centers, hiking trails, and facilities for outdoor activities throughout the year.

The park includes Metalqui Island, which hosts colonies of sea lions and serves as a critical habitat for numerous native bird species.
