Boca Chica Restaurante, Mexican restaurant in Saint Paul, US.
Boca Chica Restaurante is a Mexican restaurant in Saint Paul divided into three separate dining rooms: the Aztec Room, El Grito Room, and El Cortijo Room. Each room features its own Mexican-themed wall decorations that give different sections their own character.
The restaurant was founded in 1964 by Guillermo and Gloria Frias, starting out very small with only 28 seats. Over the decades it grew to become a significant Mexican dining destination in the city.
The walls throughout the dining rooms display murals showing Mexican traditions and historical scenes, painted by artist Rigel from Merida. These images create a strong visual connection to Mexican culture as you eat.
The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM and on Fridays and Saturdays until 10 PM. A special brunch buffet is available on Sundays from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The name Boca Chica comes from a town on the Gulf of Mexico coast where founder Guillermo Frias spent time. The name literally means 'little mouth of the river' and reflects this personal connection.
