Park Hyatt
Park Hyatt is a hotel in Banjara Hills, one of Hyderabad's central neighborhoods, with rooms, suites, and furnished apartments on the upper floors. The building is organized around a large atrium with tiered gardens, a reflecting pool, and a white sculpture, and it also houses restaurants, a bar, a spa, and a fitness center.
The hotel opened in April 2012 and was designed by architect John Portman. It was one of the first properties of this chain in India to bring together modern hotel architecture with local building approaches from the start.
The interior draws from Indian building traditions that use water and plants to cool a space naturally. Visitors walking through the lobby can see how terraced gardens and reflecting pools bring this local approach to life.
The rooms are spacious and work well for both leisure and business stays. Banjara Hills is a well-connected neighborhood, so cafes, shops, and green spaces are within easy walking distance.
The atrium started out as a simple open garden in the original plans but grew into a tall interior space during the design process. The white sculpture at its center was made by John Portman himself, which is unusual since architects rarely also create the artwork inside their own buildings.
