Ylläs 1 Gondoli, Gondola lift in Ylläs ski resort, Finland.
Ylläs 1 Gondoli is a cable car system in the Ylläs ski resort that carries visitors up a mountain slope. The cabins hold eight passengers each, and the system is designed to be accessible for people with disabilities as well as those traveling with dogs.
This cable car system was built in 2007 as a replacement for an older lift that had served the resort. The upgrade brought significant improvements in how many people could be transported up the mountain at one time.
The summit station looks out over typical Finnish mountain terrain, with the Pallastunturi peaks and the village of Äkäslompolo visible across the landscape. The view also includes Lake Ylläsjärvi, which sits nestled below in the valley.
The cable car runs year-round and is a reliable way to get up the mountain in any weather. In winter it takes you directly to ski slopes, while in summer it provides easy access to hiking routes and the mountain terrain.
During the polar night in winter, passengers witness a special light display when soft pastel colors appear in the sky around noon. This natural twilight creates a rare atmosphere that only occurs in far northern regions.
