Laukukero, Mountain summit in Muonio, Finland
Laukukero rises to 762 meters (2,500 feet) within Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and ranks as the third highest peak in this protected area. The mountain features rocky terrain and low vegetation typical of Nordic fell landscapes.
The mountain landscape served as traditional territory for indigenous Sámi people who used these grounds for reindeer herding across generations. Today the peak lies within one of Finland's most significant national parks.
The peak stands as part of Finland's natural landscape, shaping the distinctive mountain character of Lapland.
The summit is reachable via marked trails within the national park. Winter conditions from December through April demand proper cold-weather gear and strong navigation skills.
The summit offers views of the midnight sun hanging in the summer sky and the northern lights dancing across winter darkness. These natural light shows happen without traveling far from the peak.
