Stone Garden, Geological viewpoint in Bandung Barat, Indonesia.
Stone Garden is a geological viewpoint in Bandung Barat, Indonesia, set on a hillside covered with scattered limestone rock formations. From the top, the view opens onto mountain ridges and terraced farmland stretching across the valley below.
The limestone formations were shaped millions of years ago when this area sat at the bottom of a prehistoric lake. Over time, the rock was exposed as water levels changed and the land gradually rose.
The name Stone Garden comes from how the limestone rocks are spread across the hill, like objects arranged in an open space. Visitors often walk between the rocks and look out over the rice fields and green slopes below, a view that gives the place its calm, open character.
The site is open during daylight hours only, as there is no artificial lighting on the hillside. Sturdy shoes are a good idea since the path runs over uneven rock, and it is wise to bring water because shade is scarce.
Just a short walk away stands Pawon Cave, where archaeologists found human fossils from prehistoric settlements. This makes the area one of the rare spots in West Java where ancient geology and early human presence overlap in such a small space.
