Le Bois des Lutins, Recreation area and playground in Villeneuve-Loubet, France
Le Bois des Lutins is a woodland playground covering about 1.5 hectares with tree houses, giant slides, suspended nets, and underground passages to explore. The site spreads across different zones separated by age group, offering varied play options throughout the natural forest setting.
The playground developed in the early 2000s as a new concept for nature-based recreation between Nice and Antibes. This opening brought a fresh approach to play within existing woodland to the region.
The woodland displays elements from French fairy tales throughout, with small villages and figures that invite children to explore and imagine. This design connects play with storytelling traditions and transforms each visit into an adventure filled with discovery.
The site is accessible from February through mid-November, with separate areas for different age groups and picnic spots throughout. Visitors should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes since activities take place outdoors on uneven terrain.
Children can climb up to 11 meters high through secured nets and slide down 18-meter-long slides built directly into century-old trees. This use of existing trees as part of the play structures makes the experience distinctive, as nature itself becomes the playground.
