Indiana Beach Amusement Park

Indiana Beach Amusement Park sits along the shore of Lake Shafer and offers more than 40 rides, including seven roller coasters and several water play areas. The grounds include different zones with arcade games, dining spots, and places to rest between attractions.

The park was founded in 1926 as Ideal Beach, starting with basic facilities like bathhouses and refreshment stands. Over the decades, it grew into a major amusement destination with rides and attractions.

The Ideal Beach Ballroom became a central entertainment venue during the 1930s and 1940s, hosting performances from numerous musical bands of the era.

The park is open from May through October and provides lodging options including hotels, cabins, and a large campground for overnight stays. Arriving early in the day or visiting on weekdays helps avoid crowds.

A paddle wheel steamboat called the Shafer Queen offers boat tours across Lake Shafer, combining classic river transportation with modern recreation. This vessel has been part of the park since the 1960s and connects visitors to America's steamboat heritage.
