Earl W. Spackman established the park in 1926 as Ideal Beach, starting with a bathhouse and refreshment stand before expanding into a complete entertainment destination.
The Ideal Beach Ballroom became a central entertainment venue during the 1930s and 1940s, hosting performances from numerous musical bands of the era.
The park operates from May through October, with Saturday hours from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, offering accommodation options including hotels, motels, cabins, and 1,000 campsites.
The Shafer Queen paddle wheeler provides boat tours of Lake Shafer, combining water recreation with traditional amusement park experiences since the 1960s.
