蛤板灣, Shell sand beach in Tianfu Village, Taiwan
This shell sand beach stretches about 100 meters along the Geban Bay, situated between two rock formations with clear water revealing the coral reef below. The white sandy bottom contrasts with the darker reef structures that frame the shoreline.
The bay received protected status to safeguard green sea turtles and marine resources in the area. This designation changed how the site is managed and visited today.
Fishing practices rooted in local tradition shape how people interact with the waters here on a daily basis. The bay remains an important part of the community's connection to the sea.
Night access is restricted from May to October between 8 PM and 5 AM to protect breeding marine life. Plan daytime visits during these months if you want to experience the full beach environment.
This sedimentary shoreline exists in only a few spots on the island due to its shell composition. Most other coastal areas are dominated by coral reef formations instead.
