Bivouac de Capanelle, Mountain campground in Ghisoni, France.
The Bivouac de Capanelle is a mountain refuge at 1586 meters altitude at the base of Monte Renosu, offering lodging for hikers on the GR20 trail. The site provides dormitory beds, rental tents, hot showers, a well-stocked shop, and laundry facilities for guests.
The site evolved from a traditional Corsican mountain herding shelter into a modern refuge serving hikers. After the GR20 trail was established, it became an important stopover point between Calenzana and Conca.
The Maurizi family keeps Corsican hospitality traditions alive through their daily management and by serving regional dishes in their restaurant. Visitors experience authentic local cooking in a personal setting.
The refuge sits directly along the GR20 trail and is easily reached on foot, particularly helpful for hikers needing a break between stages. Booking ahead is advisable since lodging fills quickly during peak hiking season.
The location functions as both a summer hiking hub and a winter ski destination with multiple slopes and lift facilities nearby. This gives it two very different characters depending on the season.
