Pointe Grado, Mountain summit in Corsica, France.
Pointe Grado is a mountain summit in northern Corsica rising to about 1540 meters high. The area offers several hiking routes that pass through alpine meadows and pine forests, leading to a wide rocky plateau at the top.
The ridge has been part of herding routes for centuries, used by shepherds during their seasonal movements across the landscape. These passages connected valleys and grazing grounds and still shape the hiking network of the area today.
Local communities near Pointe Grado maintain traditional shepherd festivals during summer months, celebrating the agricultural heritage of the Corsican mountains.
The ascent is possible from several nearby villages, with spring and autumn providing the most reliable weather conditions. Sturdy footwear and plenty of water are important, as weather can change rapidly at altitude.
On clear days from the top you can see the Mediterranean Sea and make out the silhouette of Monte Cinto. The island's highest peak shapes the northern view and gives you a sense of the scale of the mountain range.
