Wenzel photopoint

Wenzel photopoint is an observation platform located on a medieval fortification wall overlooking the city with clear views of the Alzette Valley, the fortified area, and newer residential districts. From this position, the different elevation levels of the city become visually distinct from one another.

The fortification was built between 1383 and 1419 under Duke Wenceslas II to protect valley inhabitants from attacks. This period established the foundation of the city's defensive structure that remains visible today.

The viewpoint sits along an old fortification wall that reflects the city's medieval past, and locals often use it as a resting spot during walks. The location shows how geography shaped where people built and defended their homes.

The spot is accessible via a marked walking route that starts from the city tourist office and includes several staircases and steeper sections. Proper footwear and time to catch your breath are recommended.
