Iwasehama Beach, Public beach in Toyama, Japan

Iwasehama Beach is a public sand shore along Toyama Bay that stretches roughly one kilometer. Pine trees line the edge and create a natural boundary, while the water gradually deepens as you move away from the shore.

The location took on importance during the Edo period when Iwase port served as a major trading hub for merchant vessels. This early commercial activity shaped how the area developed and connected to maritime trade routes.

The beach draws local families who spend summer days here swimming and relaxing by the water. The shore serves as a gathering point where people enjoy simple leisure activities throughout the warmer months.

The beach provides free parking for around two hundred vehicles and has shower facilities as well as changing areas. The best time to visit for swimming is during the warmer season when all amenities are regularly available.

Between March and May, visitors can observe from the shore as small glowing squid move through the waters. This natural display draws people seeking to witness the shimmering lights appearing in the bay.
