Pantai Sulamadaha

Pantai Sulamadaha is a black sand beach curving along the coast of Ternate with dark volcanic sand and coral formations visible beneath the water. The shoreline features a gentle slope into clear waters suitable for swimming and snorkeling.

The beach sits in a region that served as a major port and trading hub for centuries. The dark volcanic sand comes from the geological activity of the islands that formed this coastline over time.

The beach serves as a working space for local fishing families who gather here throughout the day. Small food stalls along the shore reflect how the community relies on and values this coastal area.

The beach is about 30 minutes from central Ternate by car and has rental services for snorkeling gear available. Arriving early in the day provides calmer water conditions and fewer crowds for a better experience.

A short walk leads to Saomadaha lagoon where still water creates an optical illusion making boats appear to hover above the seabed. This effect results from the water clarity and how shallow areas meet deeper zones.
