Seaford Beach, Sand beach in Victoria, Australia
Seaford Beach stretches along about 4.5 kilometers of coastline with wide sandy shores and natural dune vegetation bordering the bay. A 150-meter pier extends into the water, forming a distinctive feature of the sandy expanse.
This beach preserves remnants of a historical shelter built by someone who settled there after a maritime incident. The person spent around 20 years living among the trees before this place became part of public memory.
The entrance to the picnic area features 'The Hermitage' art installation by Jacki Staude, which depicts elements from a coastal dwelling. The work tells the story of someone who chose to withdraw from everyday life.
The beach is easy to access with a pier, sealed car park, and clean facilities well organized for visitors. Lifeguards patrol from November to April, and the ticketed parking allows several hours to explore the area.
The beach preserves a large section of original dune vegetation that has disappeared elsewhere in Victoria. These undisturbed dunes provide habitat for local animals and show how the coast looked in its natural state.
