Phinikoudes, Beach promenade in Larnaka, Cyprus
Phinikoudes Bay is a beach in Larnaka featuring about 600 meters of fine beige sand bordered by tall palm trees along Athens Avenue. The shallow clear water and paved promenade invite swimming and leisurely walks.
The palm trees were planted in 1922, transforming a bare shoreline into a shaded place. Over the decades, these young saplings grew into the tall trees that now characterize the waterfront.
The name comes from the word for palm tree, and these plants still define how the beach looks and feels today. People come here daily to walk, swim, or rest in the shade of the tall green canopy.
The area offers sun beds, umbrellas, showers, and changing rooms along the shoreline. Lifeguards are present from June to October, and special facilities for visitors with disabilities are available.
During the Kataklysmos celebrations in June, the beach transforms with music and dance performances that reflect local traditions. This yearly festival draws visitors interested in experiencing community spirit and festive occasions.
