Plage de Kérel

Plage de Kérel is a beach on Belle-Île-en-Mer featuring fine yellow sand and several small coves set along the Atlantic coastline. The shoreline extends for approximately 750 meters with natural rock formations visible at various points.

The beach formed through natural coastal erosion and tidal patterns over many centuries. It served as an important anchoring point for local maritime communities and fishermen since medieval times.

Local fishermen continue their traditional practices along Kerel Beach, representing the enduring connection between Brittany's coastal communities and the Atlantic Ocean.

Access to the shore is via a walking path of about 200 meters from the parking area near Bangor church. The location offers parking for roughly 30 vehicles and is straightforward to reach on foot.

The natural location creates slightly warmer conditions compared to other coastal areas of the island. This occurs because the surrounding rock formations shelter the beach from Atlantic winds.
