Cala Capreria, Shingle beach in San Vito Lo Capo, Italy.
Cala Capreria is a shingle beach in San Vito Lo Capo with clear Mediterranean waters backed by limestone cliffs. The shore extends roughly 130 meters and consists of pebbles and rocks that make wading in the water less comfortable than on sandy beaches.
The beach sits within Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro, founded in 1981 as Sicily's first protected natural area. The reserve was established after local opposition stopped a planned coastal road that would have altered the landscape.
Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing practices near the cove, using small boats to catch Mediterranean species throughout the seasons.
Access requires a 450-meter walk from the southern parking area of the protected reserve. The path crosses through the natural area, so allow extra time for the walk and wear appropriate footwear for uneven terrain.
The pebbles here create natural patterns that shift noticeably as waves wash over them during high tide. This mix of white and gray stones forms an ever-changing mosaic created by the sea's movement.
