Kikaua Point Beach

Kikaua Point Beach is a protected cove on the Kohala Coast with a white sand shoreline framed by dark volcanic rock. The turquoise water creates a natural lagoon with a shallow bottom that lies between volcanic formations.

The volcanic formations at Kikaua Point arose from ancient lava flows that shaped the boundary between Kakapa Bay and Kukio Bay. These geological features continue to define the cove's structure and water dynamics.

The beach is valued by locals as a sanctuary where marine life thrives in protected waters. Green sea turtles visit regularly and rest on the rocks, making this a meaningful place for island residents.

Access requires checking in at the Kukio Golf Resort security gate to obtain a visitor pass. Parking is limited, so arriving early helps secure a spot for your visit.

The shallow water between the lava rocks forms natural pools where waves rarely reach, making swimming uncommonly calm. These protected basins create ideal snorkeling spots with excellent visibility.
