Anaehoomalu Beach, Sand beach in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.

Anaehoomalu Beach is a long crescent-shaped sand beach in Waikoloa with a mix of dark and light sand, sheltered by an offshore reef. The reef keeps the water calm and shallow throughout the bay, making it a safe place for swimming and wading.

The beach was home to two ancient fishponds that belonged to Hawaiian royalty and were used for cultivating and harvesting fish. These structures show that this location served as a vital food source and economic center for local people in early times.

The name comes from Hawaiian language and refers to traditional fishing practices that have taken place here for generations. The bay held special importance for local food production and remains woven into community stories and local identity.

The beach offers extensive facilities including showers, restrooms, changing areas, and a large parking lot near the beachfront resorts. Visitors should check ahead for busy times, as the beach can get crowded, especially in early morning hours.

The northern section of the bay has rental stations where visitors can borrow equipment such as paddleboards, kayaks, traditional Hawaiian canoes, and specialty water craft. This range of water activities makes the beach an active experience for people with different interests.
