Hapuna Beach

Hapuna Beach is a wide sandy shore on the Kohala Coast with fine white sand and clear water. The waves here work well for swimming and bodyboarding, and the beach slopes gently into the ocean.

Historical findings show that Hawaiian royalty used this location for recreation and leisure. Local communities also found food here through fishing and the use of ocean resources.

The name comes from Hawaiian language and refers to the shape of this coastal section. Today the beach serves as a gathering place where both locals and visitors share the water and sand.

The beach has lifeguards on duty year-round to watch over safety. Changing facilities, showers, and restrooms are available, and equipment rentals are offered for different beach activities.

The area receives very little rain, creating excellent conditions for beach activities throughout the year. These dry conditions make it one of the sunniest spots in Hawaii.
