Hookipa Park Beach

Hookipa Park Beach is a sandy beach on Maui's North Shore with black volcanic rocks scattered along its shore and waves breaking over an extensive reef system. The beach has distinct zones for different activities, with some areas protected by the reef offering calmer conditions.

Native Hawaiians have used this coastal area for centuries, connecting deeply with the ocean through traditional surfing and fishing practices. The location later became world-known for water sports and now draws international competitors.

Professional windsurfing competitions happen throughout the year, drawing international athletes who test their skills on the powerful North Shore waves. These events have made the beach a hub where visitors can watch some of the world's best windsurfers in action.

The beach park offers pavilions, picnic tables, grills, showers, and restrooms for visitor use. Lifeguards monitor water conditions daily to ensure swimmer safety.

Hawaiian green sea turtles regularly come ashore to rest on the beach, while monk seals occasionally visit the protected shoreline. Visitors can watch these rare animals in their natural habitat without leaving the sand.
