Kula Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in Kula, Maui, US
The Kula Botanical Garden is an eight-acre botanical garden on Maui displaying nearly 2,000 plant varieties. These include native Hawaiian species, protea collections, orchids, and bromeliads arranged across multiple landscaped sections.
Warren and Helen McCord founded this plant sanctuary in 1977 as Maui's first public garden. It began as a display space for landscape architecture.
The garden displays native Hawaiian plants that were historically important for local food, healing practices, and traditional crafts.
The site sits at about 3,300 feet elevation near Haleakala volcano, creating cooler conditions and clearer air. Visitors should expect variable weather and dress in layers accordingly.
The grounds feature a carved tiki exhibit, waterfalls, and a koi pond with mountain vistas. These elements create a relaxing setting for visitors.
