City Beach

City Beach is a public shoreline on Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint that covers roughly six acres of sand and grass areas. The location features tennis courts, volleyball courts, a basketball area, and a public boat launch for water access.

This location developed in the mid-20th century as Sandpoint's main recreation area, transforming from a natural shoreline into a developed public space. The change made it a central gathering point for the growing community.

The beach hosts summer concerts and community gatherings that bring residents together through shared outdoor activities. These regular events shape the social rhythm of the town.

The space is open daily from 5 AM to 11 PM and includes restroom facilities and maintained picnic areas for visitors. It's wise to arrive early, especially on weekends and during events, as the beach can get crowded quickly.

The beach provides direct access to Lake Pend Oreille, North Idaho's largest lake, with two distinct marinas serving different types of water activities. This dual-marina setup allows visitors to enjoy multiple water pursuits from one location.
