Genomek

Genomek is a small bronze figure on Powstańców Śląskich street depicting a scientist dressed in a laboratory coat with microscopic research tools. The statue stands near a medical laboratory, showing the link between art and local science.

The figure was installed in March 2018 as part of a growing collection of dwarfs emerging from the Orange Alternative movement. This movement began in the 1980s as a form of artistic resistance in the city.

This sculpture is part of a collection of roughly 800 dwarfs scattered throughout Wrocław, each reflecting different professions and scientific fields. The figures tell stories about the city and its people through small details.

The statue stands beside the Genomika laboratory building and can be easily spotted while walking through the neighborhood. It is worth searching for other dwarfs nearby, as they are spread throughout various corners of the area.

This figure wears scientific equipment and a white coat, making it the only dwarf sculpture in Wrocław dedicated to genetic research. The precise placement beside the Genomika laboratory shows how artists create personal connections between art and the surrounding everyday environment.
