Kabalagala, Entertainment district in Kampala, Uganda
Kabalagala is an entertainment district in Kampala that spreads around the intersection of Ggaba Road, Tank Hill Road, and Nsambya Estate Road. The area is filled with numerous restaurants, bars, and nightclubs distributed throughout its streets.
The neighbourhood took its name from street vendors who sold cassava flour and sweet banana pancakes at the main junction during the 20th century. From this trading meeting point, the area gradually transformed into the entertainment district it is today.
This neighbourhood serves as a social hub where people from different backgrounds gather to enjoy music and spend time together. The bars and restaurants form the heart of the area, where locals and visitors regularly meet and interact.
The district sits about 6 kilometres southeast of central Kampala and is easily accessible by public transport. Several bank branches are located nearby for any banking needs you might have during your visit.
Between 3 AM and 6 AM on weekends, Al's Bar becomes the central gathering point as other venues in the area close for the night. This makes the bar a special destination for night-goers during these late hours.
