Oberer Schlossgarten, Public park in Stuttgart, Germany.

Oberer Schlossgarten is a large park in Stuttgart's center featuring lakes, fountains, sculptures, and numerous walking paths that wind through landscaped gardens. The grounds include varied terrain with quiet corners and open lawns for resting.

The grounds began as royal gardens for the Dukes of Württemberg from 1350 onward and underwent major transformations during the 20th century. The Federal Garden Shows of 1961 and 1977 reshaped much of the park's layout and features.

The grounds sit among major cultural venues like the State Theater and Opera House, creating a central meeting point for the city's residents and visitors. You'll notice people naturally moving between the gardens and nearby museums throughout the day.

Multiple entry points connect the grounds easily to Stuttgart's main destinations and public transport. Throughout the park, you'll find areas for jogging, inline skating, picnicking, and children's activities.

The Eckensee lake at the park's heart draws attention with its regular fountain display, surrounded by classical columned halls and modern glass structures of government buildings. This blend of water, classical and contemporary architecture creates an unexpected focal point.
