Pantai Tulamben

Pantai Tulamben is a beach on Bali's northern coast with volcanic black sand and a sunken ship lying in shallow water nearby. The shoreline slopes gently, and Mount Agung towers in the background.

An American cargo ship was sunk by a Japanese submarine during World War II and came to rest in these waters. The wreck became an artificial reef that has shaped the marine environment ever since.

Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing practices along the shore while dive operators guide visitors through the marine sanctuary's coral gardens.

The site is accessible year-round, with shallow water reachable right from the beach. Visit during months with better water visibility for clearer views underwater.

The wreck hosts a rare variety of large marine creatures, including sunfish and different shark species. Divers can encounter these animals during visits, making it a distinctive spot for wildlife observation.
