Maisan Provincial Park

Maisan Provincial Park is a mountain area in Jinan featuring two distinctive peaks that resemble each other and give the park its name. The site includes both summits with connecting paths, several hiking routes of varying difficulty, and religious temples located throughout the grounds.

The area was designated as a park to protect the distinctive twin peaks and their religious importance. The temples were established at different periods, reflecting centuries of spiritual use of the landscape.

Tapsa Temple sits nestled between the two peaks, where a monk spent decades carefully stacking 130 stone pagodas without any binding material. Visitors walking through can see this remarkable hand-built structure and understand how it reflects local religious traditions.

Visitors should prepare for varying physical effort depending on which trail they choose and wear appropriate clothing plus sturdy shoes. Multiple entry points provide access to the park, and rest spots are available along the routes for breaks.

The rocks and minerals of this park differ from surrounding mountains, creating a distinct landscape that stands out in the local geography. Exposed cliff faces and thick forest combine to give it an appearance quite different from neighboring hills.
