Jeonju National Museum, National museum in Jeonju, South Korea.
Jeonju National Museum is a three-level building organized into galleries focused on archaeology, fine arts, folklore, and rotating special exhibitions. The collections contain approximately 40,000 objects spanning different periods of Korean history.
The museum opened in October 1990 as the ninth national institution of its kind established by the South Korean government. Its founding was part of efforts to develop regional cultural institutions throughout the country.
The collections reflect how Korean artistic traditions and daily life have evolved across different time periods. You can observe the craftsmanship and aesthetic choices that shaped each era through the objects on display.
The entrance is at 249 Ssukgogae-ro and the building is accessible on foot, with elevators connecting the different levels. Admission is free and weekday visiting hours are 9:00 to 18:00 with extended hours on weekends.
The Social Educational Hall lets visitors actively try traditional Korean practices rather than simply viewing them from a distance. This hands-on approach transforms the visit into a direct experience rather than passive observation.
