Dongbaek Bridge, Road bridge between Gunsan and Seocheon County, South Korea
Dongbaek Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the Geum River estuary, connecting Gunsan-si in Jeollabuk-do with Seocheon-gun in Chungcheongnam-do. The structure carries traffic on National Highways 4 and 77, serving as a key link between the two administrative regions.
The project was built to improve transportation connections between the two provinces and strengthen regional economic integration. The bridge opened in December 2018.
The bridge takes its name from the camellia, a flowering plant native to this region that grows abundantly in the surrounding landscape. This flower is an important symbol for the local environment and shapes how people think about the area.
The bridge is well marked with clear signage and offers multiple lanes for traffic in both directions. Rest areas and viewing spots are located along the route, where travelers can stop to explore the surrounding landscape.
The bridge sits at a strategic point where the river meets the Yellow Sea, making it a remarkable transition point between freshwater and tidal waters. On clear days, visitors can see both the wide river mouth and distant coastlines.
