Albufeira de Campilhas is a reservoir near Cercal, created by damming a local watercourse to hold back water for regional needs. The lake sits in a broad basin ringed by gentle hills, forming a still water surface that reflects the surrounding landscape.
The reservoir was built during the 20th century to store water for farming and local water supply needs. The dam construction reshaped the landscape and established a new water body in the region.
