FABLE Melbourne, Rooftop terrace restaurant and bar on the 13th floor in Melbourne's CBD, Australia.
FABLE Melbourne is a rooftop restaurant and bar occupying the 13th floor of the Greek Community Building on Lonsdale Street. The open-air terrace provides views across the city and comes equipped with outdoor heaters and a retractable awning for year-round use.
The venue opened in November 2021 following a major renovation of the rooftop space under owner Gehan Rajapakse's direction. Initial plans for modest updates evolved into a complete rebuild of the entire area.
The name pays homage to the Greek heritage of the Greek Community Building that hosts it. Diners find Mediterranean-inspired dishes woven throughout the menu, creating a dining experience that connects to the building's cultural roots.
The space sits high above street level, so arriving early can help secure outdoor seating on busier evenings. Calling ahead about table preferences or specific needs makes the visit more enjoyable once you arrive.
More than half the menu comes prepared without gluten, and many dishes work as vegan options when adapted, including cheese selections. The cocktails blend traditional ingredients with modern techniques, such as using aquafaba as a plant-based egg white substitute.
