Lascaux Centre International

The Lascaux Centre International houses a detailed replica of the original Lascaux Cave, featuring meticulous reproductions of 17,000-year-old Paleolithic wall paintings across more than 8,000 square meters of exhibition space.

The original Lascaux Cave was discovered in 1940 by local teenagers, and due to deterioration concerns from visitor exposure, the original was closed to the public in 1963, leading to the creation of this replica facility opened in 2016.

The center preserves and presents some of humanity's earliest artistic expressions, including depictions of aurochs, deer, and horses alongside enigmatic symbols that represent prehistoric spiritual beliefs and community life.

The museum operates daily from 10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 17:30, requires an entrance fee, and offers multilingual guided tours, accessibility features, and advance ticket booking options for visitors.

The facility employs advanced multimedia projections and touchscreen technology to create an immersive experience that allows visitors to explore prehistoric art without risking damage to the original fragile cave paintings.
