Toy Story Midway Mania is an interactive shooting attraction where guests ride vehicles equipped with spring-loaded toy guns to aim at three-dimensional animated targets inspired by carnival midway games and Toy Story characters.
The attraction opened on June 17, 2008, as the first Disney theme park ride created simultaneously for two locations, Disney California Adventure and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida.
The ride features a highly advanced Mr. Potato Head audio-animatronic figure in the queue area that interacts with guests by recognizing eye movements, telling jokes, and performing entertaining actions.
The attraction has no height restrictions and accommodates approximately 2,400 riders per hour, with ride vehicles designed for eight guests and accessibility options including wheelchair loading zones and push-button shooters.
The ride operates using a network of over 150 computers that coordinate dynamic target responses across multiple midway-style mini-games, each lasting about 30 seconds and hosted by different Toy Story characters.
