Letná Park, Hilltop park in Holešovice district, Prague, Czech Republic

The 25-hectare park features grassy areas, mature trees, and colorful bushes along the Vltava River, providing panoramic views of Prague Old Town.

The area transformed from vineyards and military camps in the Middle Ages to a public recreational space during systematic development in the late 19th century.

The park hosted substantial demonstrations during the 1989 Velvet Revolution, gathering 750,000 people who protested against the Communist government.

Visitors reach the park via trams 5, 15, or 17 to Čechův most stop, or from Strossmayerovo náměstí station by walking up Skalecká street.

The park contains Europe's oldest carousel from 1892, which reopened in July 2022 after a 16-year restoration process.

Secret locations in Prague

Prague contains numerous historical sites beyond the main tourist areas. The Vyšehrad fortress stands above the Vltava River with Gothic and Baroque architecture. The Vrtba Garden displays terraced landscaping from the 18th century. The Strahov Monastery holds medieval manuscripts in its libraries. Modern culture thrives at Kasárna Karlín, a former military base. Gardens like Wallenstein and Kinský offer green spaces with statues and ponds. Religious buildings include the modernist St. Wenceslas Church in Vršovice and the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn.
