The Petr Bezruč Memorial in Dvořákovy sady consists of a bronze statue of the poet seated on a granite pedestal, his left hand resting on the base and his right hand in his lap, a short coat over his shoulders. Seven rough-hewn granite stones stand around it, each inscribed with texts and motifs from poems in his collection Slezské písně, such as Maryčka Magdonová and Ostrava.
The memorial was made by Jaroslava Lukešová-Kýnová (lead author), her husband Vladimír Kýn and Jan Benetka, and unveiled on 16 September 1967. The city national committee of Opava funded it for the centenary of the birth of Petr Bezruč, the poet and Opava native born in 1867. It is listed as a cultural monument.
The statue honors Petr Bezruč, a Czech poet whose works explored the social struggles and regional identity of Silesia through his verses. His poetry gave voice to the everyday experiences of people living in this border region.
The memorial stands in Dvořákovy sady, in the Město district of Opava, and is freely accessible all year round. A marked educational trail through Opava's municipal parks passes by the monument, so it can be combined with a walk through the greenery.
The work has been registered as a cultural monument by Czech heritage authorities and carries an official protection designation. This recognition reflects the artistic and historical importance of the sculpture beyond its commemorative purpose.
