Cross Border Xpress, Airport terminal bridge at Mexico-United States border, San Diego, United States.
Cross Border Xpress is an enclosed terminal bridge that links San Diego to Tijuana International Airport and crosses the border between the United States and Mexico. The facility includes customs areas, passport control stations, and waiting rooms on both sides of the border.
The bridge was built by Otay-Tijuana Venture LLC and opened for operations in December 2015. It was the first cross-border airport link on the American continent.
The pedestrian bridge joins two countries in a single structure and allows travelers without a vehicle to reach the terminal directly. On both sides of the border, passengers from California and Baja California meet in the waiting areas before processing.
A valid passport, a boarding pass, and a completed migration form are required to use the terminal. The facility is reserved for airline passengers and operates outside the regular border crossings between both countries.
The facility reduces border waiting times considerably and provides access to the airport through a private crossing point for air travelers. The walk across the bridge takes just a few minutes and leads straight to the Tijuana terminal building.
