Trylon Cinema, Independent movie theater in Longfellow neighborhood, Minneapolis, US
Trylon Cinema is an independent movie theater in Minneapolis that shows classic films, foreign productions, and special screenings in a converted warehouse space on Minnehaha Avenue. The venue seats about 90 people and underwent a major update in 2017.
The theater opened in 2009 and was named after a sculpture from the 1939 New York World's Fair. The venue emerged as a way to preserve and show films that might otherwise disappear from public view.
The cinema hosts retrospectives of filmmakers and themed series that explore different periods and countries. Visitors gather here to watch rare and unusual films that you would not find in mainstream multiplexes.
The theater is easy to reach on foot and accessible to all visitors. It is helpful to check the schedule ahead of time, since the programming changes regularly and announces special showings.
The cinema is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who share their passion for film with the community. This gives the place a personal quality that you would not find in typical commercial multiplexes.
