Sacketts Brook Stone Arch Bridge, Stone arch bridge in Putney, United States
Sacketts Brook Stone Arch Bridge is a stone structure that crosses the brook using a single segmented arch design. The bridge consists of layered stone construction that rises above the water level.
The bridge was built in 1906 by stonemason James Otis Follett, who created over 40 bridges and culverts during his career. Today it remains one of only 11 surviving structures from Follett's extensive body of work.
The bridge structure displays traditional New England masonry techniques with mortared granite blocks, projecting keystones, and unmortared rubblestone abutments.
The structure is located east of the main route through town and is accessible on foot. It closed to vehicle traffic in 1996 but remains open for pedestrian crossing.
The bridge features three distinct stone layers above its arch, with irregularly-laid stones in the spandrels and a gravel roadbed at the top.
