Profile House, Palace hotel in Franconia Notch, United States
The Profile House stands on 65 acres in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, offering views of Mount Lafayette and Kinsman Mountain Range.
The Profile House, constructed in 1852, operated under several owners until its final season, leaving only the train depot standing after a fire.
The hotel maintained its own community with a post office, telegraph office, bowling alley, and numerous recreational facilities for guests throughout its operation.
A narrow-gauge railroad provided transportation for northern guests until 1921, while the property included a farm, power plant, and boating facilities.
The Profile House derived its name from the Old Man of the Mountain rock formation, which surveyors discovered in the area in 1805.
