Bomoseen State Park, State park near Lake Bomoseen, Rutland County, US.
Bomoseen State Park is a protected conservation area spanning multiple towns in Rutland County that covers several thousand acres. The park contains five lakes and ponds where visitors can swim, fish, and boat.
A private landowner donated land in 1959 to establish this protected area as a wildlife sanctuary where hunting was prohibited. The original donation created the foundation for what later became a larger state park system.
The land shows traces of the slate mining industry that once shaped life in this region during the 1800s. You can still see remnants of that era as you walk through the park.
The park has two campgrounds offering spaces for tents and RVs with basic facilities like toilets and showers. The best time to enjoy water activities is from late spring through early fall when weather is warmest.
The park contains five separate bodies of water that each support different ecosystems and recreational uses. This variety of lakes and ponds creates distinct habitats that attract different wildlife species throughout the seasons.
